Change
I wanted to photograph this teepee ring surrounded by green grass at sunrise. In Grasslands that means a spring photograph, this meant getting up at four in the morning, this meant sleeping in the back of my car, this meant hiking for an hour and a half to get to the teepee ring. I get out there and it looks like one of my vital ingredients, the sun, may not even appear. Thankfully it did, but only for brief periods and rather weakly at that. Without my realizing it, Mother Nature was giving me exactly what I needed, soft diffused sunlight and a beautiful vibrant sky above the teepee ring. This area of undisturbed natural grasslands looks very much like it would have 200 years ago, only then there may have been a teepee here, not just a ring. The only thing that never changes is that everything changes.
