Turn the Tables

In a way sand dunes are alive. They ever so slowly envelope trees and vegetation as they inch across the landscape devouring them

like some giant monster. The tables get turned in wetter years when the grass and shrubs gain  footholds in the dune and they

then slowly march up its sides until they envelope it, at least until the rains stop.
